Auguste Soesastro was born in Jakarta and raised in the Netherlands, the United States, and Australia. Initially, he studied Architecture at the University of Sydney and Digital Arts at Australian National University. When he turned 24, he decided to enter the fashion world. He continued his study at Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Paris, an established educational institution with numerous famous fashion designers, such as Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino, as part of their alumni. In addition to that, Soesastro also honed his crafts at several haute couture houses in Paris. He then moved to New York to work under Ralph Rucci before finally launching his own label named KRATON in 2008. Now, while he continues to expand the label he built, Soesastro is also responsible for some of the designs in Irwan Tirta Private Collection, composing Irwan Tirta's batik designs in Auguste Soesastro's style.
